Summer Street Farm is a place where sustainability, community, and fresh food come together. More than a farm, it is a social enterprise that creates inclusive employment for people with diverse abilities while strengthening local food security in Pictou County.
The Farm creates meaningful employment opportunities where participants develop skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose. In turn, community members can access fresh, locally grown produce directly from the Farm and through local retailers and markets.
Why the Farm Exists
The Farm grew from an idea shared by participants seven years ago. They shared three simple goals:
Those goals continue to guide everything we do—creating meaningful employment opportunities, increasing local food access, and building a community where everyone has a place.
“I feel proud and fulfilled. I feel like I’m doing something for the community, that what I’m doing matters.” – Joe Marcott, Summer Street Farmer
